Subhash Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar 2027
The Government of India has instituted the Subhash Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar to recognize the excellent work done by individuals and institutions in the field of Disaster Management, including Prevention, Mitigation, Preparedness, Rescue, Response, Relief, Rehabilitation, Research/Innovations, and Early Warning.
Eligibility
- Only Indian nationals and Indian institutions are eligible to apply for the award.
- Institutions such as voluntary organisations, corporate entities, academic/research institutions, response/uniformed forces, or any other institution may apply.
- The Individual/Institution must have worked in the area of Disaster Management in India, including Prevention, Mitigation, Preparedness, Rescue, Response, Relief, Rehabilitation, Research/Innovations, or Early Warning.
- The application must include details of work done and achievements in one or more of the following areas:
- Saving human lives
- Reduction in disaster impact (lives, livestock, livelihoods, property, socio-economic effects)
- Mobilisation and provision of resources during disasters
- Immediate relief work in disaster-affected areas
- Innovative use of technology in disaster management
- Disaster mitigation initiatives in hazard-prone areas
- Capacity building for community response and risk reduction
- Early warning systems and real-time dissemination
- Scientific/technical research and innovation
- Post-disaster recovery and rehabilitation
- Continuity of critical infrastructure and services
- Public awareness for disaster preparedness
- Any other Disaster Risk Management activity
Decoration
Winners in both individual and institutional categories will be awarded a Scroll. In addition, the winning institution will receive a Plaque, and the winning individual will receive a Medal.

Who Can Nominate?
Any individual or institution can nominate an individual or institution for the award. Applications can be submitted throughout the year.
Selection Process
A three-tier screening process is followed:
- First Tier: Headed by Secretary, NDMA with representation from MHA Disaster Management Division.
- Second Tier: Consultation with SDMAs, DDMAs, and experts regarding applicant contributions and achievements.
- Third Tier: Final screening at MHA with experts from SDMAs and various Ministries such as Agriculture, Mines, etc.
Ceremony Details
The award is announced every year on 23rd January, on the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
